“Offshore resource” is a code phrase meaning “sleep deprivation”
After putting in a full day at the office, I had a half hour break before I logged on at home and remained on until after 10, when I was falling asleep and decided to just go to bed. A tech project I am managing is scheduled to be implemented Thursday, and we are conducting testing. Unfortunately, the testing is being done in India. I say unfortunately because of the time difference. We send the sample file and then, before the batch jobs refresh at 10:30 PM EST, there is a narrow window of opportunity for our resource to sign in (at butt crack o’dawn her time) to check these on the test server before it all turns into a pumpkin. That’s a very long explanation for “I’m working a lot this week and I’m tired.”
I know I didn’t really write much about my weekend. Saturday hub drove to Raleigh to retrieve our dining room furniture from a friend’s garage. Our house is a bit crowded right now (we are still making decisions about some old stuff), but I’m glad to have the dining set – I love it!
While he was away, I got a good bit of housework done, including cleaning up in the guest room and emptying out a couple of drawers so the boy's friend T could store a few clothes. I also pulled out a piece on linen I bought this past summer . It was a very bright red – as in, if red could be fluorescent, it would probably look like this. I dyed it and it came out a very nice subdued, darker red color.
I am so equivocating on my paint selections. For one, I think I don’t like the blue in the kitchen. I like the blue, but I had originally selected it for a bathroom. I think it would look good there, but the kitchen feels a little too cold to me. I’m thinking a version of my original plan: green. Only I may do a dark taupe under the chair rail in the breakfast nook. This is no big deal – it’s $20 worth of paint.
I’m still set on green for the bathroom (which I intend to paint this weekend). If I’m feeling froggy I’d like to paint the bedroom on the 14th, but again I’m undecided about the colors.
Originally, my plan for the bedroom was a dark taupe type color. But I have a set of Drexel Heritage bedroom furniture that includes a dresser with 2 massive mirrors, a chest of drawers, and a queen sized 4 poster bed. The finish and general style are much like this china cabinet from the same line.
I’m thinking taupe walls plus massive brown furniture = giant dog turd. I have some painted furniture in the room (2 book cases and 2 small chests of drawers) – I could paint those brown. But what color for the walls? Blue? I dunno…. Would that feel restful????
